Prospective Graduate Students

Are you interested in obtaining a graduate degree at MSU and working with me?

If you are interested in working with me, that means you would like to perform the same or a very similar type of research as I do. Once you have determined that you share the same research interests as I do, please send me an email (kap@msu.edu) and let me know the following information:

  1. Your academic background
  2. Degree you wish to pursue (M.S. or Ph.D.)
  3. GPA/GRE scores/other indicator of academic potential
  4. Ideas for the areas of research you would like to pursue

Regarding potential doctoral students: It is IMPORTANT to note that I typically do not accept doctoral students prior to meeting them. I also prefer (but do not necessarily require) that you have completed a master’s degree. It is a good idea to apply for our doctoral visitation program (http://www.education.msu.edu/kin/grad/phd/dsvp.asp). This is an excellent way to meet me, the other faculty, and all of our graduate students. You need to have an idea if you can feel comfortable spending four years here at MSU.
